By : Mark Jackson

The best way to get the right size of shoes for a comfortable fit is to wear the shoes and walk around with it a little bit before you buy it. Trying on shoes is very important because this will let you determine if the shoes is too tight or too loose. Since your feet often swells and change size at the end of the day, it would be a good idea for you to start hunting for retro sneakers, retro shoes, retro pumps, retro sling backs, polka dot shoes, retro mules, retro slides, slingback shoes, vintage shoes and vintage high heels towards the end of the day. If you are planning to wear some socks with your shoes, wear the same type of socks that you plan to wear with the shoes when you try the shoes on. Always remember that the socks will increase the size of your feet so it is best to wear the right type of socks when buying certain types of shoes so that you will have no problems in terms of its size later on.

If you live in an area where you will not have the opportunity to go to a shoe store and try on some shoes, you may just shop online. However, before you shop online, you need to take the measurements of your feet first. Measuring your feet is rather easy so you need not worry about getting the right measurements.

Taking The Measurements Of Your Feet

When measuring your feet, get a piece of paper and place your feet over it. Make sure that the piece of paper is bigger than your feet. If you plan to wear socks together with your shoes, put on some socks before you start measuring your feet. After wearing your socks, sit done on a chair and place one foot into the piece of paper. Using a pen or pencil, trace a line around your foot. Use a ruler to measure the size of your foot. After tracing you foot, trace the other one. A lot of people do not have the same size of feet so it is important to measure the bigger foot to get a comfortable fit.

To determine the length of your foot, use the ruler to measure the distance between the two longest points of your foot tracing. To determine the width of your feet, use your ruler to measure between the two widest points of your foot tracing. Subtract 1/5 of an inch in the measurements of the length and width of your feet. The 1/5 inch is your measurement allowance.

Once you have the proper measurement of your feet, you need to use the foot chart to determine the correct size of your shoes. You can easily find a foot measurement chart online so there is no need for you to worry.
